Broken yet Beautiful

Where Eastern elegance meets Western boldness, art becomes a bridge. A canvas where Japan and-Anglo creativity blend into a timeless tapestry of unified beauty.

My art begins in the environment itself—I craft my own ink by blending locally sourced water (or, at times, even leftover sake or broth) with natural charcoal or soot collected from my surrroundings. This unique method ensures that every drop of ink is infused with a very real physical essence and connection with the places and people I encounter during my travels.

My other passion lies in the art of painting in the timeless traditional and easily recognisable Ukiyo-e style. With careful technique and reverence for history, I recreate the delicate balance of light, shadow, block colour and washes characteristic of Ukiyo-e. This approach allows me to capture British landscapes in a distinctly Japanese fashion, forging a creative dialogue that harmoniously blends Eastern elegance with an appreciation of the Western landscapes.

About the artist.

I'm not one for talking at great length about myself. I'd rather tell you of my tales of adventure. Of travels in far away places and the wildness and wonder you've only dreamed off. Of the incredible people I've had the fortune to meet, and the aspirations and ambitions as to where I'm headed next.

So I feel the best way for you to understand more about who I am and what I do, is through the eyes of others.
