Adventure, art, and cultural exchange.
I’m excited to announce the re-launch of my new website—a digital home where art, adventure, and cultural dialogue converge. This platform is designed to be more than just an online gallery; it’s a vibrant space where you can explore my creative journey, immerse yourself in my distinstly eastern influenced Japan-Anglo artwork, and join me in building bridges between cultures.
A Glimpse Into the Creative World:
On the website, you’ll find a carefully curated gallery showcasing some of my favourite artworks. These pieces are born from my passion for blending traditional Japanese ink painting or adopting the soft block colour tones of Ukiyo-e and it's techniques with Western influences, resulting in a unique style that tells a story of both Japan and the UK. Each artwork is steeped in narrative—from the gentle whispers of the Scottish Highlands to the dynamic spirit of Japan’s coastal landscapes. I’ve organised the Featured Artwork section to highlight some of my personal favorites, and for those who want to dive deeper, the full online gallery offers an expansive look at my currently available creative portfolio.
Beyond the visual experience, my website is also a resource that explains my creative process. I detail how I craft my own ink using incense soot, scavenged charcoal. local water from my surroundings, and even leftover sake or broth—each piece of art is intimately connected to the place and moment it was created. This behind-the-scenes insight is designed to invite you into my world, where every brushstroke and every technique carries its own story.
Introducing The Moto-Canvas Diaries: A tale of two islands
Later this year, I’m thrilled to be launching the next chapter of my artistic exploration: The Moto-Canvas Diaries. This project is a heartfelt journey that traces the hidden connections between two remarkable islands—Awaji Island in Japan and the Isle of Wight in the UK. Despite being thousands of miles apart, these islands share a deep heritage, maritime traditions, and a profound sense of identity.
Through the Moto-Canvas Diaries. I’ll be capturing the landscapes, folklore, and everyday moments of these islands on canvas, and holding impromptu workshops culminating in a community exhibition at the end of my visit. The project will be documented through this series of immersive artworks, a short documentary, and eventually a published book. It’s a story of adventure and creative dialogue, showcasing how art can reveal surprising similarities between cultures and inspire new perspectives.
Building Bridges: The Future of Cultural Exchange
At the heart of my work lies a passion for fostering Japan-Anglo relations. My ultimate goal is to lay the foundations for a cross-cultural art residency exchange between Awaji Island in Japan and the Isle of Wight in the UK. By bringing together artists, historians, and cultural enthusiasts from both regions, I aim to create a sustainable model of artistic collaboration that celebrates our shared heritage while embracing our unique differences.
I invite you to explore my new website, experience the visual stories I’ve crafted, and join me on this exciting journey of artistic discovery and cultural exchange. Together, we can celebrate the beauty of collaboration and the transformative power of art.
Thank you for your continued support and enthusiasm. Here’s to new beginnings and endless creative adventures!
